The Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Strings are the most senior orchestra and string group at the Music Centre and they play popular music from the classical and baroque repertoire, film scores and music from shows. Rehearsals on Saturday mornings are usually fairly lively with lots of interaction between students and staff. Recent concert performances have helped to raise money for the Nyumbani Trust. They have been on tour a number of times, to Belgium, Italy and Barcelona. Lucy Cumming has directed the Symphony Strings since 2001 and Jenny Steele has run the Symphony Orchestra since 2000. There are around 50 students in the orchestra and ages range from 14-16.
